Walter Frederick “Fritz” Mondale (5 Jan 1928 - age 83) is an American Democratic Party Politician, who served as the 42nd Vice President of the United States (1977 - 1981), under President Jimmy Carter, and as a United States Senator for Minnesota (1964 - 1976). He was the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in the United States presidential election of 1984.

Mondale was born in Ceylon, Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1951. He then served in the US Army in the Korean War before earning a law degree in 1956. He married Joan Mondale (nee Adams) in 1955. He and his wife have 3 children (2 surviving, 1 daughter deceased) Working as a lawyer in Minneapolis, Mondale was elected to the position of attorney general in 1960. He was appointed US senator in late 1964 as a member of the Democratic Party upon the resignation of Hubert Humphrey, and held that post until 1976. In the Senate, he supported open housing, tax reform, and the desegregation of schools. He opposed United States involvement in the Vietnam War.

In 1976, Carter, the Democratic presidential nominee, chose Mondale as his vice presidential running mate in the forthcoming election. The Carter/Mondale ticket defeated incumbent president Gerald Ford. Carter and Mondale’s time in office was marred by a worsening economy, and although both were re-nominated by the Democratic Party, they lost the 1980 election to Republican Ronald Reagan.

In 1984, Mondale won the Democratic presidential nomination and campaigned for a nuclear freeze, the Equal Rights Amendment and a reduction of US public debt. In the election, Mondale and his mate, Geraldine Ferraro, was defeated in a landslide by President Reagan, gaining electoral votes from only Minnesota and Washington DC.

After the election, Mondale joined the Minnesota-based law firm of Dorsey & Whitney and the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (1986 - 1993), and was credited with successes in Poland and Hungary. President Bill Clinton appointed Mondale United States Ambassador to Japan in 1993; he retired in 1996. Since then, Mondale has returned to working at Dorsey & Whitney and remains active in the Democratic Party.

The Summer trip 2011 as of July 19th, 2011.

The summer trip has been good so far. On July 1st, we went to Geno's near Boston Massachusetts. On July 4th, we went to Pete's near Annette's house. Annette is Geno's sister. The next day, we went back home for a break. The next day, we went to Holly's because we were pet sitting while they were on vacation. While we were there, we went to the swimming pool at Caledonia State Park about 5 times. On July 18th, which is yesterday, we went to Scott Shoemaker's in Ohio. Today, we mite go to the water park. The plans for today depends on the weather. Tomorrow, we will start our road to Minnesota to see my grandparents and father. Hopefully, the whole trip will be great.

The end of 6th grade and pre-start of 7th Grade

In the past two months, I finished 6th grade and I am going to 7th Grade at Longwood Junior High School. On June 2nd, 2011, I had a tour at the Junior High School. We switch classes every hour or 40 minutes. When you're there, you have lunch for 39 minutes and no recess. You can get homework help after school. If you're a part of the Special Education Department. I felt sad to leave the Middle School. I had a great time at the Middle School. I hope that 7th Grade will be more successful than other grades. In order to play school sports, you'll have to get certain grades. Also, you'll have to probably get an 85 or over to run the student government in 7th Grade like 6th Grade.
If you would like to find more information, you can look at a website called : http://www.longwood.k12.ny.us/

Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend is Memorial Day. This purpose of memorial daiy is to remember veterans. Today, I went to the apartment complex pool twice. During the first time, I was freezing myself off and we left after a short time so my mother could listen to the Autism Conference video. At the next time, they were more kids at the pool including my friends. When we got there, six yelled "Michael's Here!". And then, we played volleyball and had a jumping contest.

Tomorrow, I am going to church in Jamesport. And then, we are meeting some friends in Riverhead for a festival. It is going to be an awesome weekend. I hope you are enjoying the holiday too.

Lucky for "Hurricane Starts Early"

This morning, I learned that the Hurricane Season is not going to start on June 1st. It is expected to start earlier. We may have more time for hurricanes and tropical storms. I am waiting for many tropical storms and hurricanes to hit before June. I could be lucky about this. I am totally going to be lucky about more storms hitting us. Since the road trip of 2008, I have been interested in weather. Since it has been raining a lot this month, I have been lucky. If a hurricane hits you, what should you do?
